Star Pottery - Becoming a Hairy Potter.

Pottery Assistant to Mohamed Hamid at Star Pottery Studio - October 2022 – Present.

It's a testiment to my training at the Star Pottery, that i've learned not to become defined by one disapline for the duration of my career but through landing on my feet in a booming studio. I've found the nessecity of what it takes to grow past my initial specialism formed duriong my education and endure my craft into a life long commitment.

What have I learned:

Through the lense of a technician's bird's eye view, i've â€‹experiencing how inclusive classes are effectively managed and driven, programme and pack kilns to a tight schedule, organising studio cleanliness, maintenance of tools, relocation of students work to maintain flow of classes, upscaling glazing skills for mass use. Which is what any self respecting practitioner needs to learn to create a sustainable working practice.

That begins and ends with a quality of work that is in a class of its own, as well as methods such as teaching that will secure your long terms studio secturity. Whilst Expanding knowledge of throwing techniques and designs, through both my own collection and assisting experienced potter Mohamed Hamid.
